These are my absolute favorite mosaics to do and to look at. Each of the main pieces in the lowest layer is built with polymer clay, textured, baked and colored with micah powders. Some I make on white clay to take a photo transfer. Its fun to add an image which can then guide the piece in both ephemera and color. Then the fun really begins! You hunt for old jewelry and beads and whatever to combine on a substrate. It's really very challenging and this part can take me weeks. The combinations of so many different materials must provide balance and please the eye.
I never seem to be able to get very good images of these. The pictures below don't do them justice.
